Bikes: 1971 Raleigh DL-1, 1979 Raleigh Cameo, 1980's Raleigh Rapide Mixte

I commute about 30 miles daily for work. I'd love to bike commute but it really isn't logistically possible since I live in the countryside. My '99 Beetle GLS just bit the dust this past October, so here is my current ride, a 2007 Beetle, pretty much exactly the same as the '99, but with the benefit of faux leather seats and the absence of a salvage title. I've got a weird relationship with Volkswagens but for some reason I keep getting them. Maybe it's a type of Stockholm syndrome?

Some of my more interesting vehicle-owning experiences have included a 1995 Nissan Micra which I sold last year (I live in the UK for part of the year typically). This little car was pretty bullet-proof, even and I definitely taxed its tiny 1 litre engine. It had no radio or air conditioning or power steering. I bought that gem for a mere ₤200.

And my 2007 Piaggio Fly 150cc scooter, which I (very regrettably) had to sell a couple of years ago. Wow, was it fun. And there's nothing quite as enjoyable as a gas-powered vehicle that gets 70mpg!

My very first car was an eminently practical '02 Impala. Don't ask why I sold it for a Craigslist Beetle that had been previously smashed up in an accident and then repaired by some dude that probably shouldn't have made his business doing body work. The follies of youth.
