I have what I believe to be a 1987 vintage Raleigh Record (26 inch frame), and I want to replace the original road drop bars with something with wider spacing.
The bike currently has stem mounted shifters (I believe everything in the drive train is Sun Tour).
Is there a modern stem that would be a drop in replacement for the original stem, that would accommodate new handlebars?
I am not ready to replace the entire drive train as yet . . .
Gaining some additional reach would be a bonus to the project, but isn't an absolute must.
