If it fits you I would buy it in a minute bent rim and all. It sounds like the perfect tandem for your current needs. To often when someone is looking for an older quality tandem like this it seems they often never quite find one on ebay or craigslist when they actually want it or that they can buy with confidence. And when they do, the 'all in' price is not this attractive.
You have a good one at hand, you see the condition..you know the real history. ...If it fits, do the deal. Good luck.
