I can understand this. I think ultimately it becomes more of an issue to specify that you are allowing an exception by stating "C&V or not" than it would be to just state the type of bike you intend originally. I think my objection to this is because I don't want everything to default to C&V because I don't ride C&V exclusively and if presented with the opportunity to fulfill a challenge while on a non-C&V bike I'd like to have that option (as long as the challenger is ok with it).

With that said, I call for a vote. 3 votes wins.
-All in favor of Doohickie's tweak to rule #9 seen below, make it known.
-All in favor of vandalarchitect's wording to rule #9 seen below, make it known.
-All in favor of something else, make it known.
-All in favor of throwing out all rules and devolving into anarchy, keep it to yourself.

If it doesn't matter to you, then don't specify it, just say 'your bike in front of ...' or 'your ride with ...'

There's no reason we can't have an action shot where the subject is in action, as long as the photographer is stationary. For instance, what's wrong with requiring taking a picture of the bike in the foreground with a blurred car pic in the background?
I hadn't really considered this. My intention with this rule was to keep the danger level down (nothing along the lines of, 'your bike traveling at 35 mph or more, speedometer must be pictured to verify'), as well as to keep the photographing to be done by the poster. In the SS/FG forum I stole this idea from I think there was a rule to the effect of, 'no challenges involving other people,' I don't recall the actual wording. I thought was a little too far, but I like the idea of the challenges being something that you could accomplish primarily by yourself. For some it may be difficult to hand their camera to a stranger, or find someone to take a photo of them doing whatever, or to find someone to pose with their bike (if you recall I did do one that called for this last one, however, that was listed as a difficult challenge, i.e.: not something everyone could do). I think having something in motion -- foreground, background, subject, etc. -- is fine. So how should we resolve this one? Thoughts?

Rule #2 was carefully worded, IMHO, to allow the choice of the challenge timeline to be one week minimum, with the option to keep it up after that. The key word being may.

2) If a challenge is not met after 1 week a new topic may be picked by the previous challenger winner.
Some difficult challenges may be hard enough that it won't be met within a week, but could still be conceivably met.

And with that said, I do think that the current moderate challenge is better classified as difficult (see rule #8 below). I'm not disputing anything here now ... but if someone did dispute it you could guess where my vote would land.

8) We'll have a 3 tier challenge system that follows:
-Easy Challenge: something that anyone with a bike and a camera can do
-Moderate Challenge: something that might take a good deal of looking around and traveling around town, or can only be done on a special day etc.
-Difficult Challenge: not just anyone can do this. It might be specific to a certain group, region, past time, etc.
So, until we decide differently through a dispute, the current challenges as I see them are:

Easy: Clean your C&V bike. Show a before picture and an after Picture.

Moderate: Post a picture of your C&V bike, with a ski mountain or ski slope in the background, that can still be skied or ridden (for the snow boarders), i.e. snow is still present. The picture needs to be taken this month or next, April or May. 2011. The picture cannot be from earlier this season, like the one I took yesterday on March 31. If no picture is submitted, I'll revise the challenge to be more seasonal.

Difficult: Post a pic of your vintage bike with another two wheeled vehicle of the same decade (or, + or - 5 years from the date of your bike), the same country of origin. The other item must be owned by a total stranger. The pic can not be staged. You must find the other item in the "wild". Acceptable forms of the other two wheeled vehicles are: motorcycle, moped, scooter, or non human powered two wheeled vehicle. Extra points awarded if they're the same color.
