Baby strollers get into stores because 1) most everyone rode in one at some point in their lives; 2) anyone who is a parant or knows one well leans towards making it easier--not harder--for parents with stroller age kids--they've got enough to deal with already; 3) carrying a 30 pound sleeping kid gets tiring, irrespective of the idiotic 'you can always carry them' comment--what, pray tell, am I supposed to do with her sister?; 4)strollers are better than driving, ya? 5) nobody wants to diss babies publicly, though nobody wants to sit behind them on the airplane either.
Bikes are different, because you're an adult who makes a choice to go lockless every time you go for a ride. Your choice >> your problem >> your complaining. The whole "nowhere to lock" is suspect. Lock somewhere else and walk to the store. Even if you have to walk a mile, least you're not carrying a toddler

and you're burning caliries nicely. Isn't taht the whole point of the ride?
