You can find some decent off-the-shelf wheels for much much less. But, if you are gonna spend $550, get some Mavic Ellipse. They will hold you just fine. I rode them at 250lbs and loved them. I know a guy bigger than me that rides them.

Any decent 32 or 36 spoke wheels should be OK.
