I'd been considering buying a bike for quite some time now, But I always managed to tell myself it was too hard to get one for my size here in Poland. Turns out, it wasn't. I went down to local LBS a couple of times and after a few weeks, they managed to put together a ride for my beefy 400lbs (and dropping) frame.
It's an MTB frame with big tires, a downhill from suspension (that I can actually stiffen up enough so it doesn't fold in on me). It rides like a dream and I LOVE riding it.
When I went to the store to pick it up, I hadn't ridden a bike in literally 18 years. And it's totally true - you don't forget. I rode it home 12km from the store, which ended up being easier than I thought it would be. Since then I've been biking every day, trying to do 90 minutes around town and what have you.
Hopefully, my next bike can be something more off-the-rack. Like one of those gorgeous Kona's. Mmm...
