What a terrible race weekend this was.
I drove the 3.5 hours to the Rock Hill, SC races. It's been a great event in the past, albeit an expensive one - $80 in advance or $100 in person for the crit and RR.
For the Saturday crit, I made the mistake of taking one extra warm up lap. That putting me at the back of the field at the starting line, and try as I might I could never move up. Everything I did ended with me jamming on the brakes, then sprinting to catch back up. The 25 mph winds didn't help. I finished DFL. It was not fun.
Then on Sunday, I got to the starting line and noticed my front brake was rubbing. I didn't have time to fix it and it got worse as we rode. I tried opening the lever, but that didnt' help, the brake just stayed cocked on the wheel, and every time I would pull it away, it would just slam right back on to the brake track. I turned around about 9 miles in and rode back with one hand on the bars and one hand holding the caliper off the wheel. I found out back at the car that the mounting bolt had come loose. I'm not sure if that was an issue on Saturday too.
So, that pretty much sucked.
