For your question will road levers work? There are two main sizes, 23.8mm grip for road and 22.2mm grip for mountain (sometimes also stated for "long-pull" levers).

Bar-cons will not fit the mountain [grip] bars, so you'll want road [grip] bars. but beware, sometimes they won't even fit certain road bars. Make sure to ask if barcons will fit before you buy.
