-2C with a very light headwind, and still on the mountain bike. Since I won't be needing my goggles, I switched to my helmet with a visor. That helmet has my take a look mirror mounted to it, which is much better than the mirror on my winter helmet. It is supposed to be +4C and sunny for the ride home, so today will probably be my first ride in shorts for the year. The combination of shorts and my Lake winter cycling boots might look a bit odd though.
Yesterday I switched the rear tire on the mountain bike back to the Kenda Kwest slick and trued the wheel. Last time I tried to true the wheel the spoke nipples wouldn't turn. So I put a drop of chain oil on all of them before working on it and they grudgingly turned. I also put two pairs of Kool Stop pads on the bike, so braking is much better now. My bike repair stand should arrive today, it would have been very useful yesterday.
The LBS offered to pull a derailleur off a bike on the floor to fix my touring bike, but I didn't see any need for them to do the extra work since I can wait for the part to come in. The roads are quite dry now, so I think when I get the touring bike back the studded tires are coming off. There is a lot of sand on the roads so I'm not certain if I'll put both slicks on, or go with a knobby in the front and slick in the rear.
