I agree on the vintage angle. My #2 bike, a 1988 steel Fuji, can certainly serve as a commuter as well. However, it doesn't have the rack mounts. Smooth as silk ride. I got it for free (excellent condition) and had my LBS bring the drivetrain back up to snuff. I love it.
