its a 1981 trek 710. I just bought the bike from someone on Craigslist. He said he had the bike serviced, but im not sure if i believe him. Im not sure what you mean by the "shifter with a clamp"..

Do i need to take it to take it to a bike shop of can i clean/ adjust it myself?
