Not to kick in the doors here but The best thing for painting a bike is this.

Learn to use it, learn to control it and you can do just about any thing.
This is a cheep Harbor Freight one but preforms very well for this kind of work when using a quality automotive paint.
For sure you can't do portrait art with it, but as far as cautiously painting a frame,,,,,,,,,,,, With some practice and control you can't loose. Just use the same batch paint and mixes.
This is the exact same model that failed on me this weekend. I have used it for touch-ups before, but for some reason when it came to painting lugs this weekend, it decided not to work. It may be because the PPG paint I was using called for an 8:1:1 ratio. The other paints I've used with this brush were basecoat/clearcoat systems, and were thinned at 4:1 or even 2:1. I didn't waste time trying to figure it out, I just loaded up the detail (sized between an airbrush and a full-size) gun and sprayed.
But for painting an entire bike, I would never use an airbrush. Detail gun is the way to go.
Unfortunately, I have the tent "on sale at K-mart for $30" set-up outdoors. If you go this way, make sure it's big enough. 10'x10' at minimum.
