9Spd 105 with 7spd cassette/chain
Have a 5501GSS 105 derailleur.
Appears to be a mid range (bwtween the short cage racing and the long cage mtn)
Researching it I discovered it'll handle a 30t cog.
I'm thinking of changing it out with the OEM rx100 so I can run both the current 12-28 and a 13-30 for the second wheel I'm building. The rx100 won't go above the 28t max.
(running a 46/34 compact up front)
I ran a length of the old chain thru the GSS and everything seemed smooth.
Just wondering if -before I dive into this-there are going to be any problems I should be aware of.
Running the sis thru the downtube shifters.
I don't see an issue whth setting up the 7spd index on the GSS .(figure it's a metter of setting the stops..yes?)
