No ... well, I suppose it all depends on the sensitivity of your hands (i.e. ulnar nerve etc). I've been using Ergons with 'gel gloves' (either Specialized or Pearl Izumi: mitts in warm weather, full gloves cold) for going on six years now; perfect combination for me: no issues at all re. comfort OR control ... quite the converse. Wouldn't even consider any other set up ... and I tried everything before settling on this combination.
