If you're making them any other way, try this next time - put the eggs in the pan, fill with cold water, about 1" higher than the eggs. Bring to a boil on high, as soon as it boils, turn off the heat, cover with a tight-fitting lid and let it rest for 9 minutes. After the 9 minutes is done, lift the eggs out and transfer to a bowl full of cold water. I usually crack the shells at this point, it seems to help with peeling. This will get you nice, non-rubbery whites and yolks that aren't overcooked - still bright, yellow and flavorful without that greenish hue around the outside.

I tried an egg boiler for the first time today, my mom gave it to me last week. I'm amazed at how good of a boiled egg it makes.
