Painting walls is a lot different than new rims. Walls are nothing but paint. Besides modifying the architecture of the room there is nothing you do with walls except paint them.
Rims are something that have performance. The performance difference between weinmanns and stock wheels is negligible. If you are just too heavy for stock rims and they are flexing / popping spokes, weinmanns aren't the solution. Their sole purpose if you already have wheels is a color change, which could be achieved with $10 in sand paper, spray paint, and masking tape.
A carbon fork, which is where this all came from, is in fact a performance upgrade. Just is the $180 upgrade worth it to the OP? I simply suggested that he ride the stock aluminum one first and give it a try before deciding if it was worth the switch.
