Perhaps I'm wrong, but didn't you post when you first acquired this bike in terms of various modifications that resulted in a fair uproar?
At any rate, it's your bike, so you can do whatever you'd like with it in my view, but I'm wondering what the problem is with the existing crankset. If you do go with cotterless, I like the look of Stronglight 49D with a single ring. Here's the setup on my 1963 Schwinn Paramount:
And, fwiw, I have owned three Clubmans: one came with an AW hub, one with an FW, and one with an AM. I believe you could specify at the point of purchase.
