Except for weight, the bikes from Target and Wal-Mart look to be quite modern. And yes a lot are aluminium. I think all lot of bashing these bikes come from the snobbery that we see from the fully kitted racer boys. Not everyone can afford a $3000 racing bike. The bikes from the super stores will work quite well for a lot of pople.
