I just did a 'patch session' last night. I had 3 tubes that all failed due to spoke grommets. I've since wrapped the rim w/ electrical tape and then the rubber liner. So far none have failed following this approach w/ the new wheels.
I opted for the insta-patch w/o glue this time. I plan to let them sit until this evening and give them a bit of air and water testing.
I have 2 brand new tubes in the seat bag, (plus the patch kit) for on the road repairs.
I'll use the patched tubes as long as it happens @ home, otherwise it will be a fresh tube so I don't have to worry about it too much.
Point is that I will not carry a patched tube as my on-road spare unless necessary.
