No, no, no! Not necessary. It's all under control now.

I found the problem. Velognome, WNG and southpawboston were on the right track, of course. The bearing race was coming unscrewed. I have a few good tools which fit that spacing. Don't know if it has a prescribed torque but my angle-point needlenose pliers fit it very nicely so I tightened it pretty good. And they are light enough for me to carry on the bike for a while to see if it loosens up again. (And of course the model name is Perfect, not Winner or anything similar. My memory is fine. Honestly. I can remember absolutely everything I knew except what I've forgotten.)

I've been following the story of RobbieTunes' trip. It sounds like a real treat! I grew up in Virginia, spent much time in those mountains, went to Va Tech in Blacksburg. Be advised that there will be hills. The first tour I ever did was on the Skyline Drive on my UO8. I learned all about torrential rain. I wish I was coming along on that trip.

Pics or it didn't happen! Pics or it didn't happen! Pics or it didn't happen!

Enjoy. Be safe.
