I treat my spare tube like a sparecar tire.

If I have a puncture, I installthe spare. After returning to MoonbaseAlpha, I patch the tube and reinstall it. If it's flat the next day, it's because I screwedup somehow. I don't learn about a badpatch job on the road.

If all's A-OK, the spare goesback into its zip lock sandwich bag.
