I read you post on the Under 700 thread. My wife had the same issue (accidentally shifting while braking) with those shifters when she tried the Dolce. She's real small (5'0", 85lbs). So it could be the hand size issue. She said that when she would reach for the brake it would cause a false shift because she couldn't get enought of her finger around the lever to pull properly. She opted for a different bike because of the shifters. Of course, she ended up with a bike above the $700 price range because of it.
