I don't think that much more is coming out. My guess is the officer is being pulled onto the carpet by those above him. The RPD doesn't need or want this kind of attention; it just makes the job of policing that much harder. Dig (bad pun) the statement from the president of the neighbourhood association here:

I am currently the president of the Randolph Community Group and am quite saddened that this disagreement is occurring. Speaking from the perspective from one of the few homeowners left in our neighborhood, I empathize with the officer’s actions. It has been quite difficult for us to function as families with students consuming parking and, in general, forgetting that this is where some people have chosen to live their adult lives and raise their families. The police officer referenced is very meticulous in the care of his property and has been a wonderful resource for our community. Recently, he has had to deal with increased noise and trash on his street. A VCU student was arrested not long ago for walking down that block deliberately trying to uproot or knock down mailboxes, so, perhaps, I understand why he is on edge. As far as the bicyclist is concerned, I wonder why he didn’t just take his bike to his friend’s house. The house in question is on a corner, and the biker had to actually cross the alley to get to another house. I also wonder about the legality of chaining bikes to city signs. I know that it is a common practice, but I’m not sure if it is a city sanctioned one. I am, again, truly sorry that this has happened; homeowners here have been making great strides toward gaining a mutual understanding with our more transient neighbors.

Amazing. Let's blame the cyclists because someone else did something. Love the "consuming parking" comment, too.

The cyclists in question have shown remarkable restraint in not pressing charges.
