i saw a set of shimano acera hubs laced to inexpensive weinman rims with 14 gauge ss spokes at performance bicycle in walnut creek a few weeks ago... think they were about 90 bucks?

i have a similar pair on an old gary fisher. they are ugly, they are heavy, they are inexpensive, but they work just fine.

they were hanging up just outside the mechanics area.
