Car deprivation to me is becoming one of pricing gasoline, insurance and other Total Costs of Ownership beyond affordability. I really believe that entire industries and governments are seeking to eliminate drivers on a basis of ownership costs. They did their best to do that with home ownership too.

BTW, a video on You Tube for the "Zeitgeist Movement-Moving Forward 2011", in the last 50 minutes or so of the 2:42:00 a city layout is proposed. If these model cities could be adopted, about the only thing that would be considered car size in my mindset are golf carts. I think cars & planes initially would only be necessary for longer range travel and that inner city travel by monorail, bicycle and shoe leather are the only options ? Those cars and planes could be replaced with bullet trains and so on ?
