The guy is totally full of it. I wouldn't be surprised if the bikes were made with the same tubing from the same supplier. Also, the Reno (at least the 2004 model) has a replaceable derailer hanger.

The Reno frame is the same frame as all the higher-end LeMond Al bikes. It's a very nice frame.
