1973 Schwinn Paramount
howdy!
I've been lurking these forums as I've been searching for a bike on craigslist and it's finally come time for me to ask for some assistance.
an individual is selling a 1973 Schwinn Paramount that's never been left outdoors, always garaged or kept otherwise indoors. No serious scratches, but might have been repainted. Original brake levers are included, but were replaced with new Schwinn dual "safety" levers. Handlebar tape has been removed, but will include new padded plastic set. Brake and shifter cables are new and need adjustment. Front spokes are soldered and rusted, but "solid." (his words, not mine) Bike has not been ridden in several years and needs lube and adjustment. Avocet leather seat is still in usable condition with some scuffing on leather. Tires are old (original?). Also added: brand-new kick-stand and old-style toe-clips with leather straps.
I haven't had a chance to see it because it's out of town, but he's sent me a number of pictures which I've attached below.
he's asking 1000$ for it; I definitely want to counter offer ('cause that price is ridiculous, from my brief perusal of this forum), but I need to know what a good price is and why.
thanks for any/all help!
