Looks like the crank may have wobbled a bit ruining the square taper as suggested above and damaging the frame. You can byt a used bike like this in complete working order for a little more than the cost of the tires. These are disposable BSO's (Bike Shaped Objects). Once they break anything more than vaery minor items, they cost more to fix than they do to replace.
