I'm a dumbass for not having it locked up (I normally do when I leave it in there, but I forgot this time), but most people don't lock stuff up in a semi-secured area anyway. Right across the hall are three mountain bikes just sitting there. The MP's were all over it. They seem to be taking it very seriously (essentially it's grand theft). They are reviewing all surveilance video at the gates to see if they spot it. Just in a foul mood...
Hmm, I've been out for a few years now but since in happened on base can't you make a claim through JAG?
Anybody mad at the CO? I remember the day I chewed out all my senior NCOs for their poor attititude and leadership. Went out to the car that night and found a nice dent in my door and a large rock beside it. Figure the odds of that being an accident.
Good luck on working this out. It may be best to keep looking for something used. Both of my backup steel bikes were quite cheap and in all honesty perform as well as my CF bike except when the road goes vertical.
