You are one of these sad saps who get all their information from the media. If you knew anything about canine's you would know that the so called "pit bull" is actually one of the best family dogs, especially around children. Don't believe me? Well instead of arguing with you contact the American Kennel Club and see what they have to say. You'd be surprised. The American Canine Temperament Testing Association rates American Pit Bull Terriers in fourth place, with a 95% passing rate on temperament tests, as opposed to 77% for all breeds in general. The aggressive personality traits present in some pit bulls (and many other dogs) can be subdued through proper training and owner supervision of the pit bull. The name pit bull itself came out of dog fighting circles, you know....pits. They are more appropriately called American Staffordshire Bull Terrier's. Unfortunately "pit bull" is an all-encompassing term used to describe several breeds of dogs which makes it difficult to properly identify whether a dog is indeed a pit bull or perhaps just a boxer mutt mix. This results in the attack statistics for pit bulls to be tainted.

There is a lot of other false information out there about these dogs, such as locking jaws. I'm sorry but there is nothing different about the skull, mandibles or teeth in a pit bull than any other dog.

The poor breed went from representing the U.S.A. in propaganda posters and starring alongside the Lil' Rascals to being a sort of canine terrorist.
