Chrome is going to be too much trouble. I'm thinking about going with Gulf Blau (1963 VW Bug) L390 with some contrasting colors http://www.wolfsburgwest.com/colors/63l390.htm I want a blue bike but don't want to paint it the "standard French blue" (although that is nice!).
