I had one chemically stripped and powder coated....I was prepared to plug or cover all recessed threads, I mentioned it to the powder coater and he said it was unnecesary since he had a variety of plugs just for the purpose. He still got some coating into the small threads. I ended up buying a cheap tap set from Harbor frieight and chasing the small threads.
