For my steel (narrower tubes) commuter back when I was doing it daily in the SF, I always carried 1 krypto evo mini LS and 1 krypto evo mini; the LS for the sheldon method plus stays and the mini for the front, rim to down tube. Super glued ball bearings in allen heads of components. Always done the trick for me.
