I'm getting ready to leave and as soon as I put on my helmet I have to use the bathroom. I'm female so that means the jersey has to come off to get access to the bibs. Since I'm ready to ride I have stuff (phone, food, house key, chapstick) in my jersey pockets. I hike up the jersey to take off the bib straps and stuff starts falling out.
How do those of you who ride with bibs deal with this?
This was my first time riding with bibs and I guess I was expecting them to be something far and above riding with regular shorts. Not so.
During the ride since I couldn't feel the waistband so I kept feeling like I needed to hike up the shorts. Maybe the lack of waistband takes some getting used to. After about 30 minutes the straps started to dig into my shoulders and I kept having to reach under my jersey to jerk them up a bit and relieve the pressure.
The one good thing was that I didn't experience "chamois shift". Usually after I start to get sweaty my shorts get a little baggy and the chamois can sometimes shift so it is uncomfortable.
What is your experience riding with bibs?
What did you expect? A hole in the crotchal region designed just for women?
