Any component can fail, 10000 miles is good going, if you hadn't been using disc, you would probably have been through a rim by now.

For Disc hubs, I've stuck mainly with Shimano, their not the lightest, but they are heavy duty, The M765 is a high disc flange, similar to your American Classics design, if it can be re-built with your spokes, you would need to check the spoke caculators
