It's about an hour drive to the coast from Portland. But the scenery is worth it all and Portland is one of the only affordable cities left on the west coast so close to the ocean. Of course, the water doesn't get much warmer than 60F so you usually have it to yourself.
im gonna have to go ahead and...um... disagree with you there? i jsut got back from surfing.. 30 minutes door to door and i live in an affordable part of los angeles..and the water was warmer then 60.. not to take anything away form portland.. just a small correction
