I don't have a problem with those folks who want to try to educate/shame the scofflaws; it's just not my cup of tea. The closest I ever came was when I turned to my wife and commented on a red light running person on a bike as behaving like a motorist. An elderly woman in the car next to us then leaned over towards us and thanked us for not being like the scofflaw. I suppose it helps if the cagers know that many cyclists disapprove of those who ride unlawfully. (Actually, I think most folks ride like they drive, so I would rather see them blow the lights/signs on a bike than in their cars.)
