I should clarify.
The bike has been sitting in the same spot for the 2 years I've lived in this building - untouched long enough for a thick coat of dust to accumulate over the entire thing. It was only a few months ago I realized it was a Bertoni (my interest in vintage steel frames is recent).
Next week they are relocating the entire rack to a different area, so we'll see if anybody bothers to move it when the building manager posts the notice. In any case I posted signs over a month ago asking the owner to e-mail if he/she is interested in parting with it, and if not, to please move it because it is hogging space active cyclists need to lock their bikes. (Seriously, it's like the mall at Christmas) No responses so far. No movement. I also let the building manager know I would be happy to take the bike if nobody claims it during the move. I'll even pay them a few bucks if they'll put it towards a community bike stand.
The point of the thread was to see if anybody could guess the model/year of the bike. So far my best guess is an 87 or 88 Professionale based on a few catalog scans I've seen, but the fork isn't chrome plated, so I could be wrong. Maybe it's a stock setup. Maybe they upgraded the components at the time of purchase. Maybe it's painted (including the fork). Maybe a hipster molested it.
No idea.
