I don't patch old tubes after a flat. They sit in my office for about a year until they are cluttering up the place and I throw them away.

I do a few centuries every year. I'll occasionally let a group draft behind me for awhile and then intentionally hammer over a roller. If they can stay with me I'll slow down and chat with them
