That does make a certain degree of sense. But the irony with the route that they've mapped is that they have one crossing a major multilaned highway not once but twice. And at one point one is doing so without the benefit of a traffic signal.
I had the same issue with the major street crossing. I tend to use google maps as a starting guide, then use the satellite feature to zoom in to see which streets have traffic lights and adjust my route.
