Bikes: a lowrider BMX, a mountain bike, a faired recumbent, and a loaded touring bike

The good thing about Google maps "get directions", when you click on the bike icon, you get all the bike lanes depicted as green lines on the map. I love it. Last week, I rode into Queens county, New York, 18 miles from my starting point in Nassau, and most of the trip was on bike lanes.

I say YES to Google maps. I did however choose my own route.

une minuto...

I just tried "Mineola, NY" to Kew Gardens, New York, NY", and Google gave me a much different route than what I took.

In fact, the Google route was six miles shorter, and did not use most of the bike lanes I used.

So my results were the opposite of what the OP got.
