are carbon forks superior?

I've been on steel forks on the older traditional geometry bikes raliegh pursuit and r700 and they don't feel as safe in cornering like the carbons on my caad 8 and Tarmac. Do they make better handling steel fork that doesn't "bounce" so much? is geometry a factor also?
