Bikes: Cross-Check/Nexus commuter. Several others for various forms of play.

I don't commute by bike to save money.

I do save money, but that's not the point.

I agree with the OP's basic premise that there may be hidden costs. But think of all the money I save on blood pressure medicine from getting stuck in traffic in a cage.
