bike helmets are great. but if you go headfirst into a rock at 60 mph, that's just not a fair fight. i haven't seen details about how fast he was moving, but pros frequently hit those speeds on descents. that would be plenty of force.

this really shook me up, too. fastest i've gone is 48 mph, and it's just such a thin line...all it takes is a brief lapse in concentration. won't stop me from riding, but it definitely reminds you how careful you need to be out there. RIP wouter.
