Glad you are happy with your 105, I for one am willing to pay more for the higher end groups because I appreciate the sublte differences.
I liked the stereo analogy earlier. I have been an audiophile for years. Big differences at every price point between say 500 and 3k. After that very small increases up to and past 50k. Once you get to 105 you have reached the point of diminishing returns.
I test rode a 6-13 last year. One of the record setting bikes used for the team RAAM race. It had DA-10 with DA wheelset. I noticed crisper shifting the first shift. Then after a couple of rides I was 'in the groove' with them. Nicer then my DA/Ultegra mix, but only slightly. Sure some things jump out at you on the first ride, but I really think you get to know it as you ride it more.
Your thread comes accross to me as an attempt to rationize that your 105 is good enough and that DA or Record is an 'overpriced group'. I say run what ya brung, but in the process dont label others choices based on your own opinion. The day may well come when you have the 3-6k to spend on a bike and you'll be forced to eat your own words. =)
BTW that frame sprinted MUCH better then my Trek 5200 does.
