I'll agree that Record is priced out of most people's budgets, so in some senses that's overpriced. If you have the money to buy it, it's not so much overpriced though. I don't think there's much of a functional difference between the Chorus and Record stuff, mostly just aesthetics and weight. I went with a Chorus RD because the only thing the Record RD added was carbon fiber pulley cages. The only reason I went with Record brifters was they were only $5 more than the Chorus brifters because of a sale and coupon from Performace Bike. I figured the $5 was worth the posuer points. I have always wondered why Campy derailleurs are so much more expensive than Shimano ones... yet the brifters are cheaper (Record vs DA).
