I partook of the Kool-Aid that says "minimal padding" and "Brooks Saddle". I wear the Performance Classic II shorts (Usually $25 on "sale") and sit on a Brooks B-17. The soft padded saddles seem to cause a great deal of discomfort for most riders when ridden for more than a few minutes. YMMV!
