Well, I'll give you a survivor story. My wife's aunt battled breast cancer for a few years. The docs stayed on top of it and she pulled through with some positive wishes from family and friends, and I met her about 10 years later and had no clue she had ever gone through that. I've been told her disposition is more pleasant that is was in the past (not that it was bad, but it's even better now).

Mine was on the bike path in Encino. I used to live there and while recovering from a knee injury, used the Balboa Park path to avoid strenuous climbing. I was cruising down the path at about 20 mph on the way back to my apartment when some guy with his seat way too low and tires underinflated on a pink girl's huffy, wearing a red flannel and jeans starts to pass me and asks (with no hit of labored breath) "How far you going?" I was almost home. He was going to the Topanga, about 5 miles way.
