Well, tomorrow (Thursday, May 12th) is the 17th annual "Bike to Work Day" here in the San Francisco Bay Area and I thought I would give it a try. I will have some "extra" equipment, of course

. After all, I have a 17-18 mile commute. What I did do was remove the rear hub motor, keeping only the front hub and controller, and lowered the voltage from 72 to 60 volts which enables regen on my controller all in an effort to maximize my range. I will have 60 volt, 15 ahr lipo battery pack. I test rode the bike in this configuration last weekend and I made 20 miles and still had 3 volts to go on my pack voltage.
The only thing that I see going on is that they will give away some refreshments and BART train stations and a few places in downtown Oakland. Also, the ferry boat to nearby Alameda will be free (which I don't need).
So is anyone else going? Are there any other areas doing the same thing?
